Subject: [General] Top Gear America
I read on IMDb that a US adaptation of the BBC show is apparently going to start production. (I guess it is not really new news, but it's the first I'd heard of it.)

Jay Leno had an interesting take on it:

I am unfamiliar with the other two guys, but I think Adam Carolla may be entertaining as a smart-ass persona similar to Jeremy Clarkson, he was pretty funny on The Man Show. I'd never heard of Top Gear before I came to IMCDb, but have recently gotten into watching it on BBC America.
I think it's a good idea; but it should be something different, with some new ideas. But the most important thing of it is that the responsibles should be people that like and know about cars, otherwise it will be just another easy-show that wont stay long aired.
I love the show, but I dont think an American version of the show is gonna make it, half the attraction of the Original Top Gear is the dry banter between Clarkson, Hammond and May. These guys are into cars, except maybe James May, but they are obviously friends, Adam Carola seems as into cars as Im into macrame. Tim Allen would make a good host. But as currently planned, I see this going down in flames...
