I tried to copy-paste movie to get a decent pic, but with no succes. The Equalizer Jag was made with my camera and a bit of Photoshop. But I was wondering how you all capture the cars

Most of the video programs have a capture function in their menus.
Alternatively, you can try to play the video using Media Player Classic (MPC) or VideoLan (VLC), as both have the ability to save current frame as a bitmap/png/jpeg image.

I take quality pictures with my camera or off Youtube.Can you explain how I can capture an image from Windows Media Player? every time I click 'Print Screen Sys Rq' on my keyboard, open up 'Paint', paste it but It won't stay still and If I save it into my pictures it turns out black. Any easier way?

Just downlaod VLC, its very easy to use and takes and saves your pictures very fast to the folder you set it to.

I do not think it is possible with Windows Media Player.
Indeed there is VLC, but I prefer to use Media Player Classic (MPC) as VLC do not allow to pause instantly nor to advance frame by frame, so it is sometimes difficult to capture from action scenes or when not all frames are sharp enough.
In VLC I do not remember exactly but I think it is somewhere in Video menu that you have a command for the capture.
In MPC it is File -> Save Image.

or just add a function button for that - F5 preset (MPC)

To make caps with Windows Media Player (I have the swedish version, hope the translation is right...):

Tools > Alternatives > Performance > Draw the "video accelerator" bar to 0/none.

Press the button "Print Scr" on your keyboard.

Paste the cap into Photoshop or whatever , done!

You can also take shots from the itunes tool. Better quality for music videos. I also maged to convert clips to my ipod.

Fraps isn't bad for capturing pictures, though for the shareware version you can only save in bmp format. Right now I use VLC to play movies and Fraps to capture them, and then Xnview to convert from bmp to jpeg, which is faster than it sounds.

Capturing in bmp is good, at least you can adjust compression ratio when converting to jpeg (as usually programs which capture to jpeg do not let you to adjust that)
Same if you want to resize pictures or remove borders: better to have bmp to not loose details due to two jpeg savings (one for capture, and one after editing)

I use Nero ShowTime as my player and make captures with IrfanView. I remove the black borders and resize the image immediately after capturing it, mostly because I want to see, if the capture is good, not blurred or anything.

As I announced earlier this week, I downloaded VLC and it actually worked. I'm pretty sure I've made the mistake of not pausing my DVD's before making screencaps, but I was able to make some this week. If you prefer I'll convert them from PNG files to JPG's and rename them... unless that'll spoil the quality.

You can convert them to JPEG, else it makes too big files.
When converting them you have two possibilities :
- compress to 20% (or quality=80%, depending on the program) if the pictures are ready to be added to the site, i.e. if no processing has to be done on the pictures (borders cropping, resizing, etc.)
- do not compress much (e.g. max quality) if some processing has to be done and that you can't do that yourself.

Comment rendre la bonne largeur aux images capturées ? car quand j'en ai copié une, je la retrouve déformée dans Paint ou corel . Je l'étire donc, mais est ce dans la bonne ampleur ?

VLC has always made my pics into PNG, and I've had to resize them to jpegs. But apparently it hasn't been enough. All the pics I've sent since I learned how to make screencaps have been jpegs that were former PNG files. I just got a copy of the XnView program that Wampa-One recommended, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to use the damn thing.

VLC makes JPG directly if you want, just set it in the program.
