Yes, of course you can go offroad in England. I've think we've talked enough about this subject for now. All I have to say is that SUVs are wasteful and most people shouldn't buy them. Yes, all cars waste fossil fuels and pollute but SUVs happen to be wasteful than an ordinary car because they use more fossil fuels and they are designed for a function that the majority of their owners don't make use of. That should be pretty simple to understand. I don't have any problem with you and your SUV, because at least you take it offroad, I just think too many people have them. If they weren't so popular (there didn't used to be so many of them), they wouldn't bother me as much. A lot of people seem to buy them without thinking.

well such discussions IMHO leads nowhere. Someone likes them and find them useful, some of us don't

It would nice if they did though. I'd love to finally be able to change someone's mind about something.

I would be nice of logic ruled the world but I don't have much hope that it ever will. People, in general, are not very good at logic. Most make decisions based on bias, hearsay and TV ads - logical argument is useless when the opponent has no real basis for his opinion.

Just one little question for Neptune, do you need to go offroad or do you do it just for fun? If you do go offroad just for fun, that's OK because you're making use of your SUV's capabilites, it's just when you said what the quote above says, I wondered if going offroad was an important part of your lifestyle (perhaps you live in the middle of the countryside).

Do I go Off-Roading for fun? Yes I do.

The only SUV's I like are Ford Broncos/F-series, Chevrolet Blazers/Suburbans, Jeep Cherokees/Cj's and Willy's. I miss the good ol' station wagons!
