"Antp": Could you print out a regular "Top 10" most popular makes of cars seen in movies, as well as the top three countries of origin of movie cars?

As of July 12, 2006 I believe the "Top 10" are:

1. Ford (all): 4870 entries
2. Chevrolet (USA): 3068 entries
3. Mercedes (D) : 1722 entries
4. Renault (F) : 1471 entries
5. Citroen (F) : 1219 entries
6. VW (D) : 1218 entries
7. Cadillac (USA): 1206 entries
8. Peugeot (F) : 1099 entries
9. Dodge (USA): 1041 entries
10. BMW (D) : 958 entries

And "top 3" countries of manufacture (but only from the above list - you need to take ALL makes into consideration, and that may change the order listed here):

1. US-built cars
2. German-built cars
3. French-built cars

Thanks

I'll do an update of that, but actually I could add a page that is refreshed automatically.
About the country of origin, for some makes it is difficult. Ford, for example. Not all Ford are US cars.

I updated the stats in the first post, and also created a page for that:
http://www.imcdb.org/stats.php
tomorrow I will add what is missing (and most important), i.e. the stats by make, top movies, etc.

Hi Antoine, I think the statistics are great! A small remark though in the list with makes and models appears
72 Citroën DS 19
71 Citroën DS

This is due to the fact that for the first vehicle, '19' is entered in the model field, is this intended to be registered this way?

An other problem was I believe counting some vehicles as the same car (for example VW 1300, VW 1301, Volvo 244, 245, etc...) Can't you make for the statistics and for those cars it concerns a technical table, that tells that those are the same. It would be like having a dummy chassis code, that is not shown on the site, but only counted in the ouput page of the statistics...?

I can't do much better with an automatic system like currently, unfortunately.
At I time I thought about a way to group vehicles that have different name but that could be considered as same "model", that could be done with an added field, like a dummy code as you suggest...

by clicking on chassis code by the vehicle - Volvo 240 [245] it shows me also 245s (models name - that is fine  - but in statistics they are not counted together - I mean there are currently 142 Volvos 240 wagon/245 on the site - which already makes it in the list top 25 list.. but they are not there because of the problem I described  - is it possible to "learn" the statistics page to join model/chassis code? or shall I add to all 245s also 245 to chassis field? (my obsession with old volvos is getting worse I know.. )

Now we do not have problems for the pictures, next problem will be the database size. I'll have to find a solution.
Database was 33 MB last week, if it is above 50 MB OVH will move it to a server dedicated to big databases... which is slower :ohwell:
So I will move comments to a separate base so at least the vehicle info stays in the "fast" database.

Have you edited the chassiscode for the 240? I can see them now in the statistics list, the 129 240s i mean.

I see, but perhaps it was better to do it the other way around, so 245 in the model field and 240 in the chassiscode, but then again the stats looks at the model field don't they?

Current system is the best, but to have real stats on model code you should put 240 in chassis code even for those that already have 240 in model name.
