I haven't got much, but here are two road stubs. They're for proposed extensions of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway.

Were it not for anti-highway zealotry, the road would've actually reached Oyster Bay. Not only that, it would've gone from Wantagh State Parkway towards Jones Beach, to a never built bridge across the Long Island Sound.

There’s a abandoned asphalt road that still leads into Wilmington. The surrounding foliage has almost taken it over. Some parts of it can still be seen. Like where South 17 (Part of 421) merges into 74/76. Picture below. Whenever I take this route, every once in a while I’ll look to see if its still there. These snapshots are from google maps.

It was cut in half when 421 was built (or so I’m told) On the other side the road continues onward to the Cape Fear river where it ultimately stops. The USS North Carolina Memorial Road merges into it. Another picture below.

Nice abandoned mine Wampa! there's one in my region too that was converted into a nature reserve with animals in semifreedom, have a look at it, it was a mine from which they got iron.

This site of a guy that explores abandoned places, the explorations he makes have excellent pictures that show you it all very well, he also writes several lines about it but in Spanish, they are not too big, if you translate them you may understand it.

This is the site:
http://www.lugares-abandonados.com/index.htm

The first part is about "buildings" in general, id have a look, its quite interesting, well, i dont know how high your interest in this is, so i leave it to you

The second part, where it says "Historias de Carretera" is about roads and vehicles abandoned in them, perhaps more interesting since ti is about cars, here's the link:
http://www.lugares-abandonados.com/historias-de-carretera.htm

Once again, if you are willing to, translate it so you can know what they are talking about, well, im refering to Wampa now but this goes as well for those of you who like this stuff as well.

PD: Raul, if you happen to read this mind you that the guy of the website has the abandoned track i talked you about on hold to post soon, you may be interested

I knew I had pictures somewhere of the old abandoned lead mine that I visited a few years back. It was used from 1906-1972, and has since been converted to Missouri Mines State Historic Site. http://www.mostateparks.com/momines.htm

By the way, here is another interesting site I stumbled upon regarding abandoned places. I like this guy’s philosophy about urban exploration.

A propos Namibia (a bit off topic, it belongs more to the database).
I love the Bud Specer-movies from the 70ies, so "Piedone L'Africano", which was set in South Africa and mainly Southwest-Africa, the later Namibia.

For a very short time, at the chase scene in the Namib-desert (the police Lancruiser's are following the ambulance), you could see on the rolling-over police-cars written the German word "Polizei" - strange, 60 years after it wasn't a German colony any more.
