@matesmann: the members here and also in the IMCDB-database are using mostly English, even at comments, meant for annother guy of the same country.
It's better behaviour and finally often it's interesting for others, too.
maetesmann
Why then do I talk to him in English ??
:dawafigti:

Yes, Ingo, the Monaco is a 100% original ex-police car.
All our cars are original, some have the original decals of the former dept., some are "cloned" to a new dept., but all are real former police cars. We only collect originals, no fakes.

It took our member Robert more than two years to "convince" the owner to sell the Monaco to him.
But money talks at the end...
marioman3138
he's German

Hi Ingo,
bist du Deutscher oder Amerikaner ?
Are you German or American ??
ingo
Wow, I've just seen, that you even have a 1974 Dodge Monaco in your club.
Was it an original police-car?
ingo
Hi Martin,

yes, it was your car, my wife had seen. I just have ask her for the number, and she confirmed D-NY 911. At least there wouldn't be many more US-police-cars in D'dorf, am I right?

A few years ago I've seen a few US-police-cars with German plates in a small convoi on the Autobahn. Probably you or your friends on the way to a club-meeting.

My wife's brother is a policeman nearby Berlin. Actually he owns an original MZ ETZ 250 in GDR-"Volkspolizei"-trim. He also had a BMW-bike from the West German police, baut he had sold it. He's just searching for a VW Passat 32B or an Opel Ascona C in police-trim (or in a version, that you convert it to an 80ies-police-car. So it must be automatic, four doors, at best in white colour, no sunroof, etc. It's getting hard today to find these cars again.

VW Bus-freaks are crazy for T3-Buses, wich have been in use at the Bundesgrenzschutz, the German border-patrol. They had sliding doors in both sides and the very big original sunroof - extras, which had been so extremely expensive for normal customers, that they weren't sold often.
Mainly Eberspächer-extra-heatings were included, too.

Nice car! The Lumina looks great as an NYPD cruiser, too bad they don't use too many of them (they prefer the Caprice, Impala, and Crown Victoria)

Today my wife has seen in Düsseldorf an orignal N.Y.P.D.-car, complete with all signs and lamps.

Hello from Düsseldorf ! :sol:

Ask your wife if it was this one:

http://www.police-car.com/galerie/main.php?cmd=image&var1=2008_05_25_krefeld/IMG_9629.JPG&var2=0_85_pcooa-copyright.png_RD

That's MY car, an '98 Chevy Lumina, former police car.
Yes, it is an original ex-police car and ...No, it's not an original ex-NYPD.
In fact it was an ex-MP unit and was used by the US Forces in Europe bevore I bought it.
Then I converted it into an NYPD.
Lights, siren, decals, in-car video system are the same stuff that the NYPD uses.
I also changed the complete interior from tan (MP) to blue to be correct.

"Why does a German guy drives an old squad ?" you may ask...

I'm a member of PCOOA - Police Car Owners Of America - European Chapter e.V., we are Germany's largest collector's club for ex-US police vehicles.
We are about 30 enthusiast and collect, preserve, drive and show our cars on public events, like open days at police stations etc. ...

Feel free to visit our website www.police-car.com and take a look to all our cars and pics of the events we joined.

Take care,
Greetz from Düsseldorf, Germany

Martin

Cool! how much?
93_Montero
What European car was it?

Sadly, I couldn't see what it was...it looked very unique. I probably should have gone back but I was tired from class...
