The Ford F-750 Super Duty medium-duty trucks have a curb weight of around 30,000 lbs

(Just as comparison my Expedition is roughly 5,600 lbs) So in North Carolina I could not drive a F-750. I only have the Class C license. I would have to get a Class B to legally drive a truck like that.

Well what vehicle weighs that much anyhow?
Certainly not even the largest Hummer weighs that much?
Neptune
Not for towing, that’s the GVWR for the vehicle not the trailer.

When would anyone other than a semi-truck driver ever tow something in excess of 26,000 pounds??
Neptune
Wow that's a big trailer...

In Belgium you can't even drive that with a regular licence

It is like these Class-A motorhomes which are bus-based I guess.

Here (for North Carolina, I’m not sure for other states) a standard Class C driver’s license will suffice for standard towing. Its only if the vehicle itself exceeds like 26,000 lbs do you need to step up to a Class B driver’s license to drive the vehicle. There is also a Class A license and then CDL.

Most trucks do however require a "Weighted" tag or if they get stopped by the NC-DMV they will receive a hefty fine if not worse. I don’t have a weighted tag, just the standard personal tag issued for use. SUVs are exempt from weighted tags.

They depreciate thousand of dollars as you drive them off the lot! It's horribly uneconmical to buy a brand new car, which is why when I'm old enough to get my car I'm only going to buy cars that are at least a few months, maybe a year old. But I really don't plan on buying a car that new anyway, since I'll be good just cruising in my 1997 Crown Victoria :sol:

I really don't see the point in getting a new car that often, even if you can afford it.

For one thing doesn't it cost more in the long run to change cars every few years than if you keep a car for a good 10 years or more and run it into the ground? Don't cars depreciate quickest in the first few years?

I'm confused what the tags mean? I don't think we have them here in Michigan...

I had to get new tags for it, I noticed that the new North Carolina tags all have red letters and numbers now. They use to be blue, except the "weighed" tags.

I hate the new tags. My pickup has WWF..so I can't think of my truck without thinking of wrestling. Then my wagon was WZR...so when i see my wagon i keep thinking about peeing.

I think the blue tags were so much easier to read.
